January TBR

So I should probably start my saying that I hate TBRs, so why am I doing it? Good question… Honestly it’s because my Owlcrate planner is asking for it and I’m hoping that it will make me more focused because my reading was… crappy in 2019 compared to other years. I do find that TBR’s put me off reading the chosen books sometimes as well (I don’t like being told what to do even if it’s by my own self). So without further ado…

I separated this into 3 categories- ARCs, Books on my shelf, and audiobooks-, and hopefully this won’t be all I read because I want to get some new releases in too.

  1. This is my America- Kim Johnson

This Is My America

This is probably my most anticipated book from my TBR. It sounds like the type of books that I love to read- the ones with a strong message and a strong dose of today’s reality. I will read this one first.

2. Given- Nandi Taylor

I’ve started trying to read this, but I think it wasn’t the right time so I will be trying again to get this read and reviewed by the release date. I find myself having trouble getting into fantasy at the beginning and usually end up loving it so I am hoping that will be the case for this one as well.

3. Turtle Under Ice- Juleah del Rosario

Turtle Under Ice

I think as soon as I saw “for fans of Elizabeth Avecedo” I requested it. It looks like it is right up my alley and written is verse.

4. The Train is Being Held- Ism`ee Williams

This Train Is Being Held

This is another one I am excited for especially because one of my goals is reading  Latinx books!, but it also seems interesting so this is another highly anticipated book.

5.What the Other Three Don’t Know- Spencer Hyde

What the Other Three Don't Know

This is one of those “Judged a book on it’s title” situations and it reminded me of like a Karen McManus situation so I requested without reading the description so I’m curious as to how it’s going to turn out. I decided not to read the description and see how it goes so wish me luck.

From My Bookshelf

These were chosen with a random number generator. I’m hoping to use this to pick my books for this section. Who knows, I may just let Twitter decide (if anyone responds lol)

  1. Tales of Beedle the Bard- J.K. Rowling

The Tales of Beedle the Bard (Hogwarts Library, #3)

2. The Gilded Wolves- Roshani Chokshi

The Gilded Wolves (The Gilded Wolves, #1)

3. Keeping the Beat- Marie Powell

Keeping the Beat

4. Keeping Secrets- Saving Zoe and Faking 19- Alyson Noel

Keeping Secrets: Two Books in One: Saving Zoe and Faking 19

5. City of Saints and Thieves- Natalie C. Anderson

City of Saints & Thieves

  1. The Tenth Girl- Sarah Faring

The Tenth Girl

2. Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky- Kwame Mbalia

Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky (Tristan Strong #1)

3. Legend- Marie Lu

Legend (Legend, #1)

4. Dear Haiti, Love Alaine- Maika Moulite

Dear Haiti, Love Alaine

5. Hunting Prince Dracula- Kerri Maniscalco

Hunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #2)

So this is hopefully what I will get read in January. I feel pumped and excited about 2020, hopefully it last and I reach my goals.

Have you read any of these books, if so let me know what your thoughts on them were, or will you be reading any of these ? Have a great New Year’s!
